Units Tier List

How this units tier list works

Summoner’s Gambit ships with 200+ character cards—each a summonable combat unit—plus fusion that lets nearly every creature inherit traits from a second parent. Publishing a fake named ladder of every card would be dishonest a day after the August 6, 2026 Steam launch. This page ranks roles by how often they win runs under the real constraints: blackjack-style energy toward 21, auto-battler attack priority, skill range, and Ascension or async PvP pressure.

Use Creature Cards for system explanations, Card Fusion for inheritance timing, and class pages under Builds for exclusive-pool context. Sibling lists: Runes, Classes, Potions. Hub: Tier List.

S-tier roles (draft these first)

Priority tanks — Creatures that legitimately want the front seats because they change who acts first and survive long enough for your plan to start. In an auto-battler hybrid, a tank that dies before contesting priority is just a fancy energy tax.

Fusion cores — Mid cards with traits that clearly combine into a stronger hybrid. Because hybrids inherit from both parents—and can cross the four ancient factions—cores that open dual-race lines are worth more than slightly higher base stats.

Energy enablers — Units or packages that let you deploy a winning board without living at 20–21 every fight. Anything that repeatedly forces overflow backlash is secretly D-tier no matter how hard it hits on a perfect draw.

A-tier roles (strong with a plan)

Backline payoffs — Long-range or aura pieces that win if they live. They fall to B if you cannot seat them out of first-strike cones. Pair with Getting Started seating habits.

Disruption blades — Roles that delete or delay enemy engines. Lord of Shadows exclusive pools often lean here; see Lord of Shadows Builds. Valuable in Async PvP when they cut the opponent’s energy plan.

Tempo stompers — Creatures that shorten fights for King of the Wilds-style curves (King of the Wilds Builds). They drop tiers on long Ascension maps if they never fuse into something that lasts.

Sustain growers — Child of the Forest-leaning roles that stack value over time (Child of the Forest Builds). S-tier on long maps, A or lower if you cannot survive the early window.

B-tier roles (situational)

Stat sticks without a seat — High numbers that fight your formation. If skill range never reaches the target, demote them.

Narrow event specialists — Cards that only shine in specific Lovecraftian forks. Keep one if the run is already warped that direction; do not bend a whole deck around them.

Redundant mid copies — Extra bodies that share a row job with your hybrid. Fuse or cut; energy is not free.

C-tier and traps

Overflow bait — Creatures that look amazing only when you tip past safe energy. Read Energy Overflow before promoting them.

Anti-synergy uniques — Flashy exclusives that refuse every fusion lane you drafted. Collection goals belong outside a serious Ascension attempt.

PvE-only walls — Units that farm campaign bosses but dissolve against human seating in async PvP. Keep a second evaluation pass for ladder snapshots.

Class-colored reading

Noble Serpent (builds) elevates orderly priority tanks and clean fusion cores. Forest elevates sustain growers and patient cores. Shadows elevates disruption blades and calculated enablers. Wilds elevates tempo stompers that still fuse before the mid-game wall. Beginners should ignore micro-tiers and follow Beginner Builds until seating mistakes stop.

Draft checklist mid-run

  1. Does this unit have a seat job?
  2. Does it fuse into my win-condition hybrid?
  3. Can I afford its energy pattern under 21?
  4. Does it help against the next boss type or only against air?
  5. Would I start this unit in an async snapshot?

If you answer no twice, skip the reward even if a tier graphic somewhere marked it gold. Cross-check rune support on Items Runes and potion timing on Items Potions. Patch swings: Updates. Helpers: Tools.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Why rank roles instead of every named card?

Launch has 200+ character cards and a moving meta. Role rankings stay useful across exclusive pools without inventing a fake named ladder.

Are fusion cores really S-tier?

Yes when they open a clear hybrid. Fusion is a headline system—parents without a future are just energy taxes.

Do async PvP rankings differ from PvE?

Often. Disruption and anti-burst seats rise; greedy overflow bait falls. Re-evaluate snapshots separately.

Where should beginners start?

Beginner Builds and Getting Started first. Use this list only to avoid obvious traps while you learn energy and seating.

Which pages pair with the units tier list?

Creature Cards, Card Fusion, Class Builds, and the Runes, Classes, and Potions tier lists.
