Summoner's Gambit Classes Tier List
Early rankings for all four Apostles—match the class to your energy habits, not just the meme tier.
Four classes, three ladders
Summoner’s Gambit launched with four unique playable classes, each with skills and exclusive card pools: Noble Serpent, Child of the Forest, Lord of Shadows, and King of the Wilds. Demo players already sampled Serpent and Shadows; the full August 6, 2026 release adds Forest and Wilds. This tier list ranks them across first clears, Ascension, and async PvP, because those ladders reward different vices.
Deep manuals: Noble Serpent Builds, Child of the Forest Builds, Lord of Shadows Builds, King of the Wilds Builds, Beginner Builds. Hub: Tier List. Systems: Energy Overflow, Card Fusion.
First-clear tier (learn the game)
S — Noble Serpent — Clearest teaching class for orderly seating and controlled spends under the 21 energy law. Demo familiarity helps. Failures usually come from boredom greed, not opaque cards.
A — Child of the Forest — Friendly if you already understand fusion timing. Punishes impatience more than it punishes mechanical skill.
A — King of the Wilds — Readable aggression, but beginners over-summon and bust. Strong when energy counting is already a habit.
B — Lord of Shadows — Powerful and demo-proven, yet easy to misplay as “always Cheat the Odds.” Climb here after a Serpent clear teaches the floor.
Ascension tier (nine challenge steps)
Ascension and related Advanced/Endless challenge framing reward lean packages that survive longer maps (Ascension).
S — Noble Serpent / Child of the Forest — Serpent for disciplined floors; Forest for long-map growth once fusion ladders are clean. Both scale when overflow is rare.
A — King of the Wilds — Stays excellent if hybrids add staying power; falls if the deck remains glass rush forever.
A/B — Lord of Shadows — Still a monster when disruption deletes modifiers’ favorite engines, but variance spikes hurt multi-step climbs. Bring a non-bust floor.
Async PvP tier
Asynchronous duels (broader in the full release, with large preset-deck support) punish telegraphed greed (Async PvP).
S — Lord of Shadows — Disruption snapshots that cut enemy energy plans earn ladder wins.
S/A — Noble Serpent — Honest formations with clear priority seats are hard to punish.
A — King of the Wilds — Terrifying tempo snaps; vulnerable if they tip into overflow against patient boards.
A/B — Child of the Forest — Wins when the engine is protected; loses when burst deletes growers first.
Role summary table (mental model)
| Class | Best at | Common wipe |
|---|---|---|
| Noble Serpent | Controlled tempo, teaching seats | Ego overflows |
| Child of the Forest | Long fusion ladders | Slow starts, unprotected engines |
| Lord of Shadows | Disruption, calculated risk | Lifestyle busts |
| King of the Wilds | Early pressure | Over-summoning, glass midgame |
How to use this list with builds
Pick a class because its exclusive pool matches how you like to solve energy and seating—not because a streamer parked it in god tier for one patch. Then open the matching build page and shop roles using the Units Tier List. Support the plan with Runes Tier List and Potions Tier List, and learn item prose in Items.
Beginners: ignore Ascension and PvP columns until Getting Started and Beginner Builds feel automatic. Patch movement: Updates. Helpers: Tools. Builds index: Builds Hub.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Which Summoner's Gambit class is best overall?
There is no single answer. Serpent leads teaching clears; Shadows and Wilds spike ladders; Forest shines on long Ascension maps with clean fusion.
Were all four classes in the demo?
No. The demo featured Noble Serpent and Lord of Shadows. Forest and Wilds arrive in the full release.
Should I switch classes every run?
Not until you can explain energy and seating mistakes. Master one exclusive pool, then branch.
Does async PvP change the class tier list?
Yes. Disruption and honest formations rise; unprotected growth and overflow lifestyle decks fall.
Where are full class strategies?
Under Builds: Noble Serpent, Child of the Forest, Lord of Shadows, King of the Wilds, plus Beginner Builds.
